Meet Home Track Pattern Tester: Marie-Claude of @chasing_quilts

I am so excited to introduce you to all of my Incredible quilters that tested Pinwheel Star. It is so incredible to see something I designed being created but such talented individuals. I have enjoyed getting to know each one of these talented testers and would love for you to get to know them as well. Even better get to see the amazing quilts they created.

Kristin of @heartlakequilts pattern tested a Baby size of Pinwheel Star. Kristin and I were in the same small group for the Quilter's Candy Quilt Pattern Writing Course. Kristin has been wanting to do a low volume quilt and I really wanted to see Pinwheel Star with a low volume stripes with a darker star so we swap pattern tested for each other. It turned out so fabulous. Now I think I need my own version. Check out Kristin on Instagram here.

Where do you live? Charlottesville, Virginia

How long have you been quilting? Over 25 years

Why do you pattern test? I enjoy helping designers produce quality patterns through hands-on tech editing.

What do you love about Pinwheel Star? I love the way the quilt is assembled, how the stars stand out, and that you can really make it scrappy. I also learned a new to me technique for cutting the strips into triangles which was super fun!

What was your inspiration or colors used for Pinwheel Star? I wanted to make a low-volume quilt for a while and thought this was the best project to do just that. The fabric I used for the stars is Seedlings in Licorice by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics. The low-volume fabrics are a mix of Bonnie and Camille, Fig Tree Fabrics, and some from other designers.

What is your favorite quilting tool you have? One of my favorite quilting tools is my Block Lock Ruler for trimming half-square triangles.
