I am so excited to introduce you to all of my Incredible quilters that tested Pinwheel Star. It is so incredible to see something I designed being created but such talented individuals. I have enjoyed getting to know each one of these talented testers and would love for you to get to know them as well. Even better get to see the amazing quilts they created.
Sara of @sdm1146 pattern tested a Throw size of Pinwheel Star. I love the contrast of the pink stars with the blue and green pinwheels. It turned out so good. I cannot wait to see what she makes with her bonus HSTs and how this one looks after quilting. Check out Sara on Instagram here.
Where do you live? I live in northeast Ohio with my husband and two cats. We're lucky that our granddaughter lives nearby.
How long have you been quilting? I've done "crafty things" all my life. I started with knitting and cross stitch as a child and have experimented with many things. I began to quilt as a young adult.
Why do you pattern test? I'm an educator so patterns are a form of education and I like making education better. I enjoy seeing new patterns and having opportunities to explore new techniques. It's a fun way to be more engaged in the quilting community.
What do you love about Pinwheel Star? I love the way the scrappy stripes come together into the pinwheels - I didn't really understand that until I was assembling my quilt and it was fun to watch it happen.
What was your inspiration or colors used for Pinwheel Star? I'm trying to work from stash more. I bought a bolt of the 2022 Kona Color of the Year (cosmos) so wanted that to be my solid. I played with a couple of jelly rolls and really liked one from Karen Lewis's Blueberry Park collection from a few years ago. It was the "cool" colorway and I cut the additional strips I needed from stash fat quarters in the same collection.
What is one quilting goal you have? I'm starting to learn about wool applique this year - it's a fun additional rabbit hole for my textile adventures.
